What does it mean to be Mindful--March 15, 2015

Staring off into the bright sunny sky it is time to relax, clear your mind, and simply watch the bright sun and its effect on the clouds around it. Thoughts may drift in and that's okay, your job is to simply acknowledge the thought and let it go without judging it. Simply watch the sun in the sky as it slowly sets over the mountains and the desert. Again, it's okay if you have a negative thought, just simply acknowledge it ad let it go. For example, often times instead of just relaxing I find myself thinking that I'm simply not good enough. This is a negative thought, and if it comes while I am relaxing watching the sunset, I will simply tell myself that this is a negative thought and look back to the horizon as the sun dips into the mountain range behind my house.

The sun is magnificent, as it starts to go behind the mountains. It illuminates the surrounding clouds with various colors as it sets. Every day it looks a little bit different than the day before. It all depends on what the cloud pattern is and how the wind is affecting the clouds. You can see that today, March 15th, is a virtually cloudless day. Therefore what you see is simply the sun setting behind the clouds in its magnificent glory.

The sun looks like a huge ball through the lens of the camera, because it is so bright it is amplified. But what you see in these camera views is basically what it looks like when you look out at the horizon. The sky fills with a variety of colors. It is beautiful and soothing it makes you realize that all those what-if’s and I should have’s are simply somebody else's expectations. Because everybody needs time for themselves to just enjoy the beauty of nature.

We hope you enjoyed the sunset. Brought to you by Pete Rottier and Linda Pallock.
